John, from the technical site https://claesjohnson.blogspot.com/ ( Prof Claes Johnson is a world reknown mathematician and scientist with knowledge of some engineering subjects)

"Dietrich Bonhoeffer was arrested and incarcerated in Tegel Prison: There he mediated on the question of why the German people - in spite of their vast education, culture, and intellectual achievements- had fallen so far from reason and morality. He concluded that they, as a people, had been afflicted with collective STUPIDITY (German Dummheit)." "The events in Germany between 1933 and 1943 had shown him that perfectly intelligent people were, under the pressure of political power and propaganda, rendered stupid - that is incapable of critical reasoning"

Is that not what happened around the world about Climate and Covid? In Australia the worst example is in Victoria where the propaganda has not only affected the majority of the population but also the Liberal party to make them unelectable. Socialists which includes the Greens have with propaganda and lies have lead people in the developed world rendered people stupid.

Albert Einstein said "Two things are infinite the universe and human stupidity and I am not sure about the universe"

Another superbly stimulating intellectual essay by John Roskam. I much appreciate his references to Eastern European writers and intellectuals. They, of that generation, were imbued with a certain moral strength which puts many of us to shame. John Roskam however, stands in their tradition.

Hi John,

Thanks for the article. Certainly a Royal Commission is warranted into the handling of COVID but that is unlikely to happen. However if it does that media must is asked to account for their handling is the COVID story. The lack of any checking of the stories by politicians was woeful. The same goes for the ranting media personalities on talk back radio who must be held to account.

Thanks John. I belong to a community organisation who suddenly started doing welcome to country announcements prior to performances.

I complained and they have stopped. If they did not I was going to tell them that I would only go on stage after the ridiculous welcome to country had occurred, and would encourage others likewise.

Years ago, unlike many Australians I worked with an Indigenous fellow, Steve, when in Dubbo. Steve was an outstanding worker, one of the best I have ever dealt with. This was around the time welcome to country started to appear - he told me, unsolicited, that he did not support them as we were all from the same country...
