Thanks John.

I keep a mental note of companies who behave like this and never use them if at all possible. Officeworks joins that list.

I also politely question staff when wrong or virtue signalling measures appear. eg Aldi's false signs about 100% Renewables power being used.

If we refuse to use companies that pursue evil woke measures then they will struggle. Witness Budlight...

Actually Calculus - I too have noticed ALDI’s false signage declaring that they use 100% ‘Renewables’ power. This sort of deceit by corporates annoys the hell out of me. They obviously regard their customers as half-wits. And speaking of ALDI, I have noticed that many of their shelves are becoming empty - various lines of products have just disappeared. That indicates underlying corporate management deficiencies. Their management should concentrate more on the quality of their commercial decision-making rather than wasting resources on virtue signalling and deceptive practices. Maybe the problem is that they are appointing executives on the basis of DEI principles and not competence and experience.

The degradation of competence due to the imposition of DEI management policies in industry is a growing problem – as exemplified here in John Roskam’s analysis of Officeworks fairy-tale ‘feel-good’ corporate policy statements. The issue was brilliantly elucidated last year in an upmarket U.S. management magazine called ‘Palladium’. Everyone with management responsibilities in any organisation needs to reads the Palladium analysis. The title and link of the article are as follows: “Complex Systems Won’t Survive the Competence Crisis” - published 01 Jun 2023.

The Palladium article is excellent.

The Covid response showed utter incompetence at all levels, and the Climate Change idiocy confirms it.

Society is in a serious decline and people need to realise this.

Well said John. I wish these big companies would "stick to their knitting". I see these virtue signalling companies as the perfect reason to shop and spend at small, family businesses wherever possible.

So tired of companies and their stupid priorities. Serving customers is what that silly young woman was paid to do and she didn’t so she should have been sacked.

Blind , deaf and incompetent governments have led the west to the situation in the UK.

John, you are always impressive in your analysis of issues. Corporate woke nonsense is rampant. I was shocked again by the disgraceful anti-Semitism on display at Officeworks. I will be adding Officeworks to my list of companies to boycott, such as Woolworths, Aldi, Qantas, etc for their publuc support of the Voice, and their total lack of support for Australia Day, Anzac Day etc. The Corporate world is so very out of touch with its customer base, and I hope that those of us who find their behaviour offensive, send a very strong message by avoiding these businesses.

It always intrigues me that the Diversity and Inclusion part of DEI is never written into corporate policy correctly. Why would a Jewish diverse man wanting to have his page laminated not be included at Officeworks? That’s the question that should be asked of this manager. I too do not think she should be sacked or re-educated but ask her to consider the question. Then, if she continues to turn away legitimate customers whom comply with the their DEI policy, there are grounds to terminate her position. These corporations need to write better and more honest policies, or, just stay away from them altogether. My company has no such policies: the only policy is, we abide by Judeo-Christian mindset, which is perfectly sound and no other policy is required.
