Referenda in Australia are almost never passed. I think that too much is being made of the victory and not enough attention is being paid to that fact.
The rejection is already being treated by the government and its Get Up, supporters as an argument in favour of the Misinformation Bill.
I would like to add my dislike for the "Yes" campaign as The Constitution heralds in the nation of Australia. Thus, the first Australians are those in the land on 9 July 1900. Those are the people (third word of the preamble). Anything that occurred before then did not happen in Australia.
