Excellent piece, John. I am horrified by the recent anti-Semitism and the response to it of many authorities, politicians and universities.

As time goes by I keep marvelling at the genius and fore-sightedness of Orwell. He ranks equal to Churchill as the most significant Englishman of the century. The self-loathing that he describes is a pandemic virus that has infected the entire West, but a particularly hard case in the Anglosphere.

There is at least one bright side to this - one more group of people have woken up to smell the coffee. Just like the Asian community in the USA being disenfranchised by "numerus clausus" in the tertiary system - the more allies the majority has to fight back against the cultural-marxist tide.

Another very thought-provoking piece. Many thanks!

It's the old Leftist trick - say something is absolutely bad or evil, and there are no exceptions. Then, when everyone agrees with you, and you have created a vacuum, plug your own ideological version into the void.

First, you say that all wars are bad & that there are no just wars and that all good people stand for absolute peace. You march about the place & burn flags. Then make everyone forget how to argue for or against casus belli (what makes a war just or unjust). Then, apply your own ideological filter to what is 'just' in war into the vacuum you have created (see: Russia is evil, Hamas are angelic). Finally, take no responsibility for the fact that yesterday you were absolutely against all wars. Now you control the discourse (and all future discourse on wars) & everyone who disagrees with your take on Ukraine or Hamas is simply dismissed as fascist, crazy, deluded, deceived by bad people etc.

It's a neat trick!

A brilliant piece and spot on. Why do I think there are so many parallels with Sodom and Gomorrah and why do I see a self serving professor trying to explain it away. You cant argue with fire and brimstone.
